One-Motion Booking

Planning a trip means twenty tabs and a spreadsheet. Walter is a bet that the whole journey can feel like a single motion.

01The question

Travel planning is a fragmented mess by default — search here, compare there, book somewhere else, track it all by hand. How much of that friction is necessary, and how much is just unowned handoffs between tools?

02What we looked at

Where planning actually stalls: not at any single step, but at every seam between steps.
What a search-to-checkout flow needs to keep momentum — fewer decisions per screen, defaults that respect stated interests and dates.
Why native mobile matters for travel: the Airbnb-register interface pattern people already trust with bookings.

03Findings

Friction lives in the seams. Owning the full journey in one product removes more effort than optimizing any single step.
A bright, calm interface earns trust for a transaction as large as travel; visual noise reads as risk.
The end state is agentic: once the journey is one motion, letting the product complete the booking for you is the natural last step.

04How it shaped the build

We built the journey twice — a bright web experience running search to checkout in one flow, and a native mobile app in the Airbnb register — with agentic purchasing as the road ahead.
